Calling all artists around the UK! Our friends from the Chichester Art Trust have announced that their National Open Art Competition 2014 (www.thenationalopenartcompetition.com) is open for entries.
Now in its 18th run, this annual competition provides a platform for emerging and established artists alike to exhibit and promote their work, with an impressive total prize fund of £60,000. The event, sponsored by financial advisor Towry, is administered by the small but dedicated team of the Chichester Art Trust, a registered charity whose aim is to nurture creative talent in a genuinely open and fair fashion. After receiving the highest ever number of submissions last year, they are now on the lookout for new, original artworks from amateurs and professionals alike. Painting, photography, drawing, original prints, wall hung installations and computer-generated art are all welcomed for submission. The competition is open to all UK artists and photographers over 15 years of age; to apply, it is enough to submit one image of your work, an Artist Statement and a current CV to their website for a small £20 entry fee. Closing date for entries is July 6th.
The final competition will kick off with a 5-week exhibition at Somerset House, London from 18th September to 25th October 2014, where a selection of around 100 finalist works will be presented, before moving to the Minerva Theatre in Chichester. The prize-winning artworks will then be exhibited in November at Chichester’s prestigious Pallant House Gallery. The illustrious line-up of judges for the 2014 edition includes: artist Norman Ackroyd, RA, cultural entrepreneur and founder of the Marrakech Biennale Vanessa Branson, photographer Caroline Irby, artist and printmaker Chris Orr, RA, and Towry’s board executive David Middleton.
